In Texas, the UIL has approved randon drug testing. I think it being left up the the specific Districts as to How, who, when. Not as yet mandated State wide.
It is long overdue, down here! We had a rampage of Heroin overdoses afew years ago in Plano. 11 students played with fire & paid the ultimate price.
A couple years ago, steroids were brought to the forefront again with Taylor Hooten, who committed suicide. His father has testified before Congress, Texas State Lesislature, UIL, and School Boards...Finally the polititians & Education Administrators are beginning to paying attention.
I encourage folks to read & contribute to this organization.

I think this is both good and bad news. I am glad to see an initiative like this started and sad that there was good reason that is was created. If this can help 1 kid from going over the edge it is worth it.

Rich Codey is a good guy. I grew up a couple of blocks from him and he isn't your typical politician (you decide what typical means to you) He coaches basketball and from what I have heard he's a darn good coach who cares about his kids!!!
Finally someone has stepped forward to protect our children from the dangers of steroid use. Gov. Codey is a strong and very effective legislator who has the admiration and respect of New Jersey residents. And, by the way, he is an outstanding youth basketball coach and you can see how much he cares for every player on his team. Now he's caring for every young student-athlete in my state. Great news.
