I stumbled onto this website a few years ago when my oldest son (2014) was 12. I really enjoyed reading all the information and gaining some insight on recruiting. At the time college dreams were years away if ever. How time flies, my son was a Senior over night it seems. I had totally forgotten about this site and I happened to stumble upon it again this past summer. Then the panic set in, were we too late in the recruiting process? Everybody's path is different and it's a wild ride but I'm happy to say my son has accepted an offer to play college baseball. His goal was to be "signed" before next year so he could, in his own words "Just focus on school and playing ball". I'm very proud of him, he owned the process and if anything matured a lot as far as communication skills and self confidence. I would just like to say the information I gleaned from this site has helped us tremendously! The knowledge I gained here made the process less intimidating. I would just like to say although some of us don't post, we are here learning and enjoying the community here at HSBW. I have a 2017 and a 2022 so we are just getting started. lol

Congratulations to your son.  This sounds a LOT like my son's experience and when he "signed" he too felt such a relief to just focus on school and baseball.  And I must say, he really did enjoy that last year in HS.  It's a special time as the college experience was a fun experience experience too, but for a baseball player, it was also quite a grind.

Thanks everyone. I would like to say that if anyone is out there and they are worried that their son is not stud D1 prospect. Neither was mine, he never got any D1 interest other than generic camp emails etc. He was able to market himself, get himself in front of coaches and basically sell himself to schools that fit his atheletic ability and academic needs. He stayed in regular communication with the coaches that were interested in him and he worked hard. In the end he is going to a school he fell in love with its a 4 year school that has the degree path he is interested in pursuing. This past year has been a lot of fun for me. I was In a position at work that I was able to spend the time with him on showcases, tournaments and school visits. I was able to build on our father/son relationship, we communicate the best we ever had now. That to me is one of the best things to come from this whole process.

Thanks everyone for the congrats! He will be going to Oklahoma Wesleyan University. The last few years under the new head coach they have done really well. The recruiting coordinator showed a lot of love to my son. He was recruited to play catcher. As far as the recruiting I followed the advice on here as much as possible or as much as I thought it would pertain to our situation.

Congratulations to your son and family.

I've heard on this site many times over that if the boy has talent (at any level) and passion for the sport, there's a spot.  I discovered this past summer what wise words those were.  My son has discovered what Coach Mays describes as "the grind" of collegiate baseball.  Although at the NAIA level, the boy eats, sleeps, and breaths baseball 6 days a week--early mornings/late evenings.  I was able to tell him what to expect so it wasn't as big of a shock.  A testament to this site indeed.

Congratulations again and good luck!!!
