Can't speak for anyone else, but in my estimation, after following my son for 3 years, if you are going to go to an Ivy school, don't do it strictly for the baseball. Baseball aside, my son has loved (almost) every moment there and is looking forward to getting back and finishing up his degree. Don't get me wrong, Ivy baseball is not top tier D1, but is competitive and good baseball. You could do much worse. I'm far from an elitist, but the Ivy league is not known for their baseball prowess. The weather (Dartmouth had 10 games cancelled); short season (only 40 or so games scheduled); good, but far from top flight facilities are some of the reasons you should be going for an education FIRST, baseball second.

That said, Harvard won the Ivy league last year. Yes, many fine ballplayers are recruited there (some who were drafted out of high school). Throwing in the mid to upper 80's (with a little movement) will more than likely get you a weekend start. My son was upper 80's and has been a weekend starter since his freshman year. If they can find a player from Pueblo, I would imagine they can find players from Chicago. There are players drafted from the Ivy league every year.

I know this didn't sound like a ringing endorsement for the baseball, but trust me when I say that overall my son wouldn't change anything about his decision to attend.

Good luck! PM me if you have any further questions.
Frank
