'12CatchersDad,

I can answer just about any question you have about Cornell baseball. Son is a starting pitcher for the Big Red.

They just graduated their starting C, SS, CF, and 1st, plus a starting pitcher. Very big shoes to fill. Starting pitching was their calling card last year along with solid defense, timely hitting and a lights out closer. Competition for the open positions will be tough. I know all the returning players very, very well. I don't know what the incoming freshmen class looks like...yet. The last two years of recruits has been outstanding which played a key part in winning the Ivy conference this past year. Last year was supposed to be a rebuilding year, however the team clicked, got hot, and lucky at times. But I'm a true believer that you make your own luck. Coaching staff is solid with many, many years of experience in the dugout. They love what they do.

Please send me a PM if you have questions specific to your situation. BTW - there are 3 players from Virginia on the roster. All three played a HUGE role in the teams success last year. Wink

Here's what i have from my website: baseballprep.org

NY-Cornell U -Bill Walkenbach - wjw4@cornell.edu - 607.255.3812 Ivy Group - Great academic school. Baseball is almost always in the upper rung in the IVIES . A no lose situation with Cornell. Baseball facility is impressive. Turf field, new duguouts, stands and press box.Solid coaching staff and very approachable.
Ahhhh, Cornell...

That series in 2010 was when junior was on a roll and set his personal best for strikeouts in a single game (I think he went complete with 11)...and had his first elbow soreness. He actually had thrown 330 pitches in 11 days vs. #19 Ohio State, #1 Florida and then the CG vs. Cornell.

The next week vs. Holy Cross, the UCL gave way. He tried to pitch vs. Navy a couple weeks later hoping it was just tendinitis, gutted out a few innings, but Cornell was his last hurrah. I regret that it was one of the few series I missed.
