Moyer made his first World Series start against the Tampa Bay Rays, pitching 6 1/3 innings, giving up 3 runs, and receiving a no-decision (rumor has it with a stomach virus).
He also happens to be the oldest active player in Major League Baseball – within 4 weeks of his 47th birthday – November 18th. He has at least one victory over every Major League Team.
He is a finesse pitcher, rather than a power pitcher, throwing a 79-83 mph fastball with late movement, the circle changeup, a cut fastball, a curveball and a two-seam fastball – I don’t think I saw a pitch over 82 and a lot of low 70’s stuff.
His career should be the poster-child for all those HS pitchers that don’t light up the guns. Study this guy – what makes him so successful? How does Moyer live in the sub-85-ish range successfully for 22 years?
He is one of my HEROS!

For all HS pitchers who can’t break a pane of glass – take solace in that Jamie Moyer can’t either.
Sometimes the hardest work is brainwork.
