Okay guys- my son "jammed" his middle finger at practice yesterday. Very swollen, purple, and painful. How long does it take to get better? He's got a game on Friday but more importantly a tournament the following weekend. He is a pitcher and of course it is on his throwing hand. He needs reassurance it'll get better and any of you have any suggestions besides ice and ibubrofen? Thanks

Just a little story (it's true) about mi amigo.
His name is Dale and he really wanted to be a Navy Seal. Well one day he jammed his big toe on a chair and cussed and cussed and then the pain went away, but the toe continued to swell and get a little purplish. Well he continued to ignore it until a few months later he finally went to the doctor because it kept bothering him. Well they said that he broke it and it healed over the broken stuff and the only way it could be fixed would be via amputation.

Well, there went his chance to be a Navy Seal, because they wouldn't accept him because of the injury. He was accepted by the Marines, but he really wanted to be a Navy Seal.

The moral of the story is, it never hurts to get things checked out! Yes he had it amputated
Okay-that's a scary story. I think I will pass on telling him that one since he is only 11 Smile Actually he did a great job keeping ice on his finger. He can bend his finger and it seems to not hurt as bad. I even caught him outside playing wiffle ball today. I think he is going to be fine and maybe even be up to Friday. Thanks for your input guys!
