Isnt funny how the Red Sox now that they are not winning vs the Yanks are called "motley", "dirty" etc

All year while winning they were fine

Damon is being seen by many for the first time and all they have seen is bad Damon--- he is not tthe greatest outfielder but is not as bad as he has shown-- and I have seen him play all year not just in the past few games on National TV
Damon cut his har Saturday. You didn't notice? Hmm. The poor guy collided so hard with a 2nd baseman last year he got a very bad concussion and missed alot of time. He deals with migranes because of it.

As TR said, he is having a horrible ALCS after a fantastic year. Without him, they would be watching the playoffs on TV.
Looks like all the red sox could use a haircut and a shave. Probably a bath too. However, I remember the Oakland A's back in the day, when they had mustaches and beards, and everyone was making the same comments. And they were pretty good. Regardless of how they look, the Red Sox have heart, after last nights game they certainly are not or should not be looked upon as losers. Hey with Pedro going tonight, and Schilling cleared to pitch game six, you gotta believe.
Despite all the critiques that have been offered remember this...that stadium has been filled to bulging each and every game with many more spending cold long nights outside trying to get a ticket...they have provided to all of us here a summer of fun and entertainment...they are not your sterotypical BB players...but the fans and the Media have had a great time especially playing Jesus Christ Superstar when Johnny Damon comes to bat...this is a BB town and has been for many years and we do not have people that just jump on the wagon for playoffs...they could fill 3 stadiums here with the amount of people who would give their right arm to go to a game...they must be doing something right
Wow, talk about a '60's flashback; judgements on the guys' hair. As if personal appearance has anything to do with it...and the phrase is 'personal' appearnace, so I guess it's their business. I've thoroughly enjoyed them this season, and was unhappy they seemed to run out of gas, particularly our Johnny. (He graduated from my son's school, came back to work out before every ST, and contributed heavily to the program....still wearing his old hs number as well.)

Remember when Giambi was all tatoos, hair, and mad dog....then signed with the Yankees and turned into an investment banker?

Just all part of the sizzle surrounding the pro game. The Sox fans love 'em, and that's all that counts. applaude
I agree firing the ball back over the wall was classic, and I root for anyone playing the Yankees. Individually, some fine gentlemen in large part, but collectively, the Evil Empire. (See also the Big Mac Principal, Derivative 1: "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts, and much more distasteful too".)

I should give Damon et als a flier as in college, I got my hair cut every three months, whether it needed it or not, but I personally don't like long hair flowing out from under a baseball hat. It doesn't mean they aren't fine players or fine guys, they just need a trim in my humble opinion.

BTW, The ump that put the ball in his pocket likely has it on Ebay by now.......
Ah, but it was a Fox announcer who said it; could the Red Sox fans let the rest of us know if it is one of Johnny's skills? Wink

Over at the NLCS we've been none too impressed with the commentary or their familiarity with the teams. For example, they've gone on repeatedly about how "Jeff Suppan can handle the bat, he had a .270 average during the regular season". Our Jeff got his first hit of the season in August, I believe, and closed out the season at .070. This, of course, made his two hits in Game 2 really funny!
I have to agree about Damons swing. But some of the other sox are not much better. Everything you would not want your son to imitate some of these guys do. But hey there in the league arn't they. It just proves that the notion that there is one way to hit is bull. Saying that hitting is not an exact science is an understatement to say the least.
Every year at least one player has a pitiful playoff or world series

I recall when Gil Hodges of the Brooklyn Dodgers had an o for -------- World series-- the Brooklyn Fans were saying novenas for him

Keep in mind Damon his over .300 this year and was a catalyst in their late season surge to the playoffs
Coach May, nobody said there is only one way to hit.......You made this up, yourself.......You wrote, produced, and directed the script by hearing one thing and thinking you heard something else........Everyone knows there are lots of ways to swing a bat....And, there are, also, lots of ways to hit......The problem is, most of them don't hold up under pressure.....And, Damon's swing is one of those...... Roll Eyes
As usual - snide innuendo - but factually lost at sea.

Heres why Johnny does that. Apparently - about 61 of his "ground balls" bounced into the Gap or over the fence.
The other 128 ground balls were base hits. Those "grounders" also drove in 94 runs from the leadoff spot.

G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO SB OBP SLG AVG
150 621 123 189 35 6 20 94 296 76 71 19 .380 .477 .304

Such pure and utter nonsense.

He's actually very good at what he's doing.

Question is.....why does he want to do that?

Ahhh... The old "Baltimore Chop". With the way that they groom the area in front of home plate now, it's not nearly as effective as it used to be. You need to have that ground packed down to the consistency and hardness of granite for it to be really effective.
