Josh Bell's two-out double scoring Chuck Jeroloman from first base in the bottom of the 10th inning lifted No. 8 Auburn to a 7-6 win over No. 2 LSU Friday at Plainsman Park in the series opener. Auburn improved to 21-7 and 4-3 in the SEC, while LSU fell to 22-5 and 4-3.

Jeroloman singled with one out off LSU reliever Justin Faircloth before Faircloth was lifted for lefty Greg Smith. Smith struck out Clete Thomas before Bell doubled over the head of right-fielder Jon Zeringue on a 0-1 pitch. Zeringue's throw in was cut off by second baseman Blake Gill who threw home as Jeroloman slid safely under the tag from catcher Matt Liuzza.
