VHS....

You may want to explore the CCBC Catonsville program, along with Frederick CC, Hagerstown CC. I think Harford and Chesapeake are also ok. This is purely on the baseball aspect. And, yes, Mont College - Germantown is evidently a very good D3 JUCO, too.

If academics are an issue....you may want to look at which school is going to best get the grades in shape, with baseball being a secondary consideration.

I would ask what 4 year schools, if any, players move on to. And make sure the HC is interested in more than simply keeping the players eligible at his JUCO to play - especially if your son plans on moving on to a 4 year school. Remember, the coach is there trying to win games.....you are trying to make sure your player develops - both on the field and in the classroom.

Since you are from Va, living situation is probably also a consideration.
I would highly recommend Chesapeake. Chesapeake is a D2 level JUCO with many players coming from outside of the area and living in nearby apartments. Coach Semanski does a great job with both the team and encouraging players to become more accomplished in academics. I have sent several players to him - all earned their AA degrees and moved on to 4 year programs, most D1. He is well respected as both a mentor and a baseball guy.

Tom Gilchrist and Jason Allinder transferred to UMBC after getting their AA. Chesapeake College was very good choice for my Son. Coach Szymanski is top notch.
Michael Turner was selected by the Angels in 2010, as well. By the way, Chesapeake is a JUCO D1
So MD Baseball Camp has always been a good place to meet many of the local JUCO coaches.

If I wanted to know more about Maryland JUCO programs - at least the baseball side of the equation - I would show up tomorrow and introduce myself to the coaches and ask my questions.

I think you will find that most coaches are more than willing to answer whatever questions parnets/players have.
