At a Juco, you can have 24 players on scholarship (at some level). If you are giving a guy $500/year, that counts as one of your 24 slots.
What the Juco's normally do is come up with a scholarship "budget" and then divide out the money as the coaches see fit and need to. Though the 24 scholarships CAN all be full scholarships including room/board in D1 and full scholarships excluding room/board in D2, they will rare fund that way.
Regardless of how they spread out the money, they can't have more that 24 guys receiving some portion of it at once.
Most of the jucos my son is being recruited by are being very positive about him receiving quite a bit of academic money. If he had to rely on baseball money alone, I would be shelling out quite a bit of money. Just another case of where good grades pay off again.
My son was an infielder and alot of jr colleges had a great amount of baseball money available, maybe because the cost of school is lower than most 4 yr schools (and theres no football )Also scholarships are for 2 yrs

Just curious, but was the scholarship guaranteed for two year? It's my understanding that, even though it works out that way most of the time, the scholarships are given for two semesters, one year.
You are correct scholerships are for one yr. What I was trying to say, players only attend jr colleges for 2yrs, If player was given full ride it would only be for 2yrs rather than 4
