You may be correct .. but many, in fact, use it as a means of bettering their draft position with a back-up plan of D1 if plan A fails.

Yes, some do, I agree. My son's spring training roomate was drafted out of HS 42 round and played for two years in JUCO before being drafted again this time the 26th round. He is now a catcher on the 40 man roster.

Either way, it's been a good topic to encourage those that want to turn to JUCO as an option that it is a prefectly acceptable and good one (except a few that nothing seems to be good enough), and that would include for baseball as well as academics, especially as CD states in these hard economic times, it's just a great option.

Maybe floridafan or someone else can weigh in but many are recruited to FL JUCO bb programs. When son was in HS many JUCO called to sell their program, for draft and follow if he decided not to head off to a 4 year.

Here is the list of drafted players from Palm Beach State College in 2010:

Ben Carhart - LA Dodgers
Eric Rice - Chicago Cubs
Logan Thompson - Cleveland Indians
Austin Knight - Baltimore O's
Peter Mooney - St. Louis Cards
Ryan Beynal - Milwaukee
Luke Garnaccia - Seattle M's
DJ Ferguson - Baltimore O's

Not a bad season. I also saw that their head coach has resigned and is now a Scout with the Washington Nationals. Guess my guy should have played there.

The long and the short of it is that FL has JUCO's with great academics and baseball and very cost effective, especially if your child qualifies for a bright future scholarship.

There are many here who I am sure, would love their players to have this option.

So when someone posts with what seems like a dilemma because they didn't do what they needed to in the first place and has viable options available, but not good enough, some people find it distasteful.

Sorry, I just am saying what others are thinking.
