why is it that most juco transfers are tranfering after 2 years and not 1? Is it just the obvious reason that they needed 2 years to gain more interest from the 4 year school they wanted to attend, or is it something I'm missing?
I ask because I'm considering all my college options, but when I think about taking the junior college route I picture just going for 1 year and then tranfering out..

leftyZ - ILVBB is right. It depends on if you're a NCAA qualifier out of HS or not. If you are, then you can transfer to a NCAA school after one year (assuming you have enough transferrable hours which would be 24). If you aren't a qualifier out of HS, you must complete your associate's degree first - which would require two years. Smile

That is very wise advice!! The coach won't help after one year. A player will typically be on his own for which I'd advise to make sure coach knows when that time comes. Surprise calls to JUCO coach aren't fun for anyone! Smile
Walawala,
I couldn't have said it better myself. I will also tell you that many 4 yr coaches, such as myself, will not recruit a kid who has been in a JUCO for 1 year unless they come to me. Simply put, I have a pipeline, and I won't burn that bridge for 1 kid who may or may not end up in my program. Now if a kid is transfering and that's it after 1 year. I'll contact the JUCO coach first, very rarely is someone transfering after 1 year at a JUCO and it's a good reason.
