One's from an naia where the baseball isn't very good. The other two are DII. One offer was decent at best, the other was very good but it's a new program and isn't very competitive yet. He's had some DI interest but no offers. I don't want him to sell himself short. He was all region last year and is in the top 10-15 of a few offensive catagories(njcaa div 2) this year.
I also don't recommend trying to walk-on at a Div. I program. Usually, your son is going to be given a better opportunity to contribute where the coach has "invested" a scholarship in your son. Keep in mind that most Div. I programs are going to have 8 walk-ons and most of them will be recruited walk-ons that have been sought out by the coaching staff.

Sounds like one of your son's considerations is whether he would prefer to be part of an established Div. II program, or be a key contributor for the start of a new program and be able to look back and know that he was there at the beginning.

Good luck to your son!

Rick just summed it up. If he goes to an established program, he may not see the playing time he wants unless they have a need at his position. A new program may offer him more opportunities for playing time which may be more important to him.

My sons are freshmen at a lower D1 with a new coach this year. They are getting their playing time, are able to contribute, and they're at a college they love. And they look forward to being part of a rising program.

I don't think I would be concerned with how many offers he has. He just needs the one right offer which may already be on the table.

Good luck, and let us know how it turns out.
Thanks for the advice. As a parent you tend not to notice weakness' as much as an outsider. Being a kid that plays corners and catches, has a 3.0 plus gap,has good frame(6'1" 215),only 6 k's in almost 200 plate appearences, and has been around .400 all year I thought he would have a few more offers. I'm venting now. I guess the main goal for most of the people on this site is getting their kid a good education for the least amount of money so in that regard his hard work has paid off. I think most dads out there dream big, though. Just thinking about this all being over in a couple years bums me out. I have 2 young daughters in ASA softball so there will MANY more games, but it's just not the same.
This option isn't available at Div. I programs, but Div. II programs can offer tryouts with and against their current players, in case your son wants to try to find a spot with a better quality Div. II than the offers that he has now. The tryout can't take place until his current season is over, however.

Have their been any scouts at his games? Maybe a scout could suggest a possible option somewhere.

Keep in mind that Div. II programs don't have as many scholarships to work with - 9 vs. 11.7 at Div. I.
