I know we're just getting into spring and that this doesn't pertain to HS ball but... does anyone know about 19&over baseball in the Knoxville area for college players. I know that several college players go to Nashville and play for the summer but work prevents the commute in this case. Also, has anyone heard about the possibility of an adult wooden bat league forming in the Knoxville area? Thanks in advance for your input.

I haven't heard anything about a wooden bat league, but I'd like to see it. There's been a 19& over league in Knoxville for a number of years. They used to play at West High School. Last year they even played some games at Lakeshore Park, but the fence is a little short for the "big boys".

My son played with the 18U Thunder last year and they participated in the Wooden Bat League at Old Timers park in Nashville. It was decent baseball for the most part. A lot of Tennessee Juco and small college players participated on various teams. The 2x a week commute was a pain and you always ran the risk of getting over there and getting rained out.

I don't know what the overall quality of ball is for the Knox adult league, but what I saw in person did not look as good as what we saw in Nashville.

Thanks for the info. I don't think it will be possible this summer for him to go to Nashville but we are looking into it. He will definately plan on that for next summer though. He's redshirting this spring and wants to make sure he is playing somewhere this summer so he will be ready for fall. Does anyone know who to contact for the Knoxville league for signups? A second thought. Are there any adult leagues in Jefferson City that play on that Field of Dreams complex? Also, does anyone know about the adult league in Lenoir City? Appreciate your input.

I don't know about anything in Jeff City or LC. Jeff City stays so busy with younger-age tournaments, I don't know when they'd have time to fit older guys in, unless it was early in the week.

I'd keep an eye on the Sunday News-Sentinel. The Bulletin Board that runs with the Recreational sports column usually has an announcment about league signups. You might also get some information by calling City Parks and Recreation.
