John Logan College is off to a great start..record is 21-3 overall , 3-0 in conference play and is now running into typical rainy weather in Illinois..
they have played nationally ranked teams in Alabama and of course they defeated Okoloosa Walton of Florida 5-4. Not many Jr Colleges in Illinois have played 24 games already...weather has been great in the South. Devon Foreman having good year so far at the plate,,
Harper College sweeps a DH from Waubonsee today 6-4 and 6-1....Jonathan Lee(Glenbard South) gets the W in the first game with Caleb Johnson(Conant) getting the save......Bobby Ida(Schaumburg) throws a gem the 2nd game getting the win with Scott Householder( St.Joes) getting the save. Scott also went yard for the 2nd straight day and mike cox(Machesney Park Harlem) had 5 doubles on the day

Sorry boys. Looks like South Suburban is getting ready to go on another 40 game winning streak, after getting their *** whipped by the Texas Jucos. South Sub at Triton tomorrow, Harry coaching against Ru, who'd a thunk it. Region IV is up for grabs this year. Gotta luv 'em all.

Nice post!! I was there and SSC played their hearts out. "Getting their *** whipped by the Texas Jucos" is quite a statement for a guy that supposedly knows what he's talking about! I've read some of your other posts and this one is out of line.

Oh well - it's a message board and everyone has the right to post what they want - AND I DID!
No problem. Thats what message boards are for. And thats right, I am a champion of Ruzich and his program and have known many who have gone thru it. Including Harry and all three Byrdak boys who were my neighbors in Oak Forest. His spring trip to Texas does a lot for his program. Its great competition that gets his team ready for the rest of the schedule, and gets his kids some fine exposure to the big schools as well. However, coming back from TX 2-7 is hardly a good trip for SSC. And when I see Ru and ask him about it, he'll tell me so.

Regionals and Districts are going to be difficult this year, but I'll be pulling for SSC. Your son is in a good place.

And, my posts are GREAT!

Injuries and mistakes by Parkland late in the game. Parkland was winning 3-0 late in the game when a number of errors in the infield, 2 by shortstop and 1 by second allowed South Suburban to score their runs and win the game. Parkland starting first baseman was playing 3rd and the rest of the infiels were backups due to minor injuriers to shortstop, second baseman as well as the 3rd baseman causing the first to play 3rd. They are supposed to be minor injuries so they should all be back. They are now 33-9 and 22-2 in conference play after the weekend.
Just Looking,

Looks like #15 Springfield College pulled an upset in Region 24 with #3 Parkland being eliminated. Not quite sure how it all transpired but it's quite the upset just the same.

Three Illinois Skyway Conference teams (#6 Elgin, Moraine Valley and #9 Oakton) are included in the Region 4/North District battle you mentioned. Independent Kankakee is also ranked at #11 rounding out what should be a very competitive North District tournament. Here's to Coach Angelo and the ECC Spartans repeating as champs and returning to Millington for the fourth straight NJCAA DII Championship appearance.
Parkland lost to Danville in the second round and then lost to Lincolnland CC in the loser bracket. Lincolnland came from a 8-0 deficit to beat Parkland 9-8 and eliminate them. My son Scott pitched 1/3 of an inning and got a fortunate win against Parkland. Unfortunaely they could not get past ICC. They lost to ICC twice in the tournament.

Congrats to SCI

The Elgin Community College Baseball Spartans are Headed Back to World Series! For the fourth year in a row, Bill Angelo's Spartans have won the Region IV title and will be going to the NJCAA Division II World Series in Millington TN.

Today ECC beat Kankakee Community College 20-3 to win the Region IV berth. Brian Stanley (Larkin) pitched 7 no hit inn. before KCC got a base hit in the 8th to get the win for Elgin. Big offensive days were had by Bret Ehrlich (Bartlett), Kevin Schrader (Bartlett), and Adam Rice ( Ceder Rapids IA.)

I have to say that bar none the best programs in Region IV year in and year out are as follows:

Division I- South Suburban- World Series appearance last year along with region championships the last 3-4 years makes this a no brainer. Coach Ruzich does a great job and probably doesn't get the credit he deserves.

Division II- Elgin- 4 World Series appearances in a row isn't bad for a program that was at the bottom of the barrell before Coach Angelo took over. All the pub Oakton and Kankakee gets is just fluff until playoff time when Elgin always prevails.

Division III- Joliet- Wayne King has been the staple in Joliet for years. They have won a National Championship with him and with the pitching he has this year they might do it again. This program competes with any D1 or D2 program in the entire state.

These aren't the only 3 programs in northern Illinois, but in my opinion the best programs to go to if you're looking to go JUCO in northern Illinois.
Joliet won last night and now are going to atleast finish with 2nd place in the NJCAA D.3 Series.

They are playing Tyler, TX. They played each other on Tuesday and lost in an exciting game 6-5.

JJC has to win 2 games in a row against Tyler. Game 1 is tonight and starts at 4pm. If they JJC wins game 2 is slated for a 7pm start.
