Recruiting coach or head coach?

Either, actually, as both are involved in the decision. We preferred the head coach; if it's his habit to read them, great, though he might just pass them along to the recruiting coach. But if you direct them to the recruiting coach, the head coach doesn't see your name.

RHP05 makes an exceedingly good point -- verify that the coach you're addressing the letter to is still there! And it's always a good idea to include the name of the college and team a few times in the body of the letter to personalize it and show specific interest.
