Ken Griffey Jr. has announced his retirement. I believe it's a No Brainer that he's a first ballot hall of famer. He was a sure fire 5 Tool Player when he first came into the league as a 19 year old for Seattle. He was fun to watch offensively and defensively, and IMO if he'd stayed healthy he probably would have a few more records and possibly be considered the greatest outfielder of All Time! Even with all the injuries, his career wasn't too shabby!

First ballot? Yup.

I watched some of the clips last night too! His bat was lightning quick in his early years (fun to watch!), but some of his defensive plays raised my eyebrows! The HR's he robbed were amazing and he was hands down the most athletic outfielder in his prime, not to mention...he had an absolute Cannon too! 630 career dingers...how many more would he have had if not for some of his freak injuries?

First ballot ... You never know about being unananimous. Some voters don't believe in it.

Yeah. That's true..But why is that? If the numbers are there and a player is head and shoulders above his contemporaries and when his name comes up, the answer is yes without thinking why he don't belong.

Do some of these peeps who get to vote have some ego thing going on knowing their vote counts for something? Did the player refuse to sign a ball or something?

I don't think Griffey''s ever been linked to roids or anything like that. You'd think, in today's game, a Griffey would be a unanimous choice.
