By the way, regarding the stolen base thing.
Our teams led all small colleges in stolen bases. In fact, we broke the all time record for stolen bases in 1991 with a then record 309 in just 52 games.
We also led the nation the next year with 246 SBs. We had one player (Terry Schneekloth) who broke the national record stealing 100 bases in 109 attempts.
I can say in all certainty that none of those stolen bases came in the situation we are discussing here.

I've enjoyed this discussion. Both you and PG have brought up some good issues and made good points. I have to go pick up the kid for this afternoon's game pretty soon and I hope the other team has to worry about stealing down by a couple runs in the last inning. Oops! I really hope they don't even get a runner on in that situation.
