I know we have heard it all about metal, BBCOR, BESR, etc., at this point I think HS and college play should go to wood only. To me this is the way the game is to be played. I know the bat contracts and all but let's just do it. Let's set the trend.

Performance is not really an issue any more as wood seems to out perform BBCOR. Most kids I know prefer swinging wood - it's just pure to square one up versus a metal bat.

Personally, I would rather spend $300 on wood bats for the season than buy a BBCOR for the kid. Junior needs to swing BBCOR in California, but he may be swinging wood instead.

Out,
Lefty...
Keep swingin it...

I bought my son a bamboo dragon by Brett Brothers for 60 bucks and he loves it.He is only 12 but is trying out for the freshman team this year so he has to go -3 NOW.

But he was swinging a -9 at 6 years old.

My youngest son is a junior in HS, and has committed to a college. My eldest son is a soph. at a JUCO and will probably be swinging wood this year instead of BBCOR.

Time goes by fast, have fun with your son.

He's Ok but here in Ky they let them try out early. There are several doing it but usually the only ones to make the team are the ones that commit to baseball early and are able to make most of the conditioning. My son chose to play 7th grade basketball so conditioning was limited. If talent is the deciding factor over the other 7th graders he should make it BUT the reality will probably be to reward those that put in more time(as it should be) so he probably won't make it.

OH,and I agree, time goes very fast and we are enjoying it.

I wouldn't mind it but I would like for them to allow the bamboo/maple laminated bats(maybe even all bamboo).IMO,they are a little more durable and should be less dangerous than these maples that are being used in the majors.

The maple/bamboo hybrid is a great bat and can be used in all PG wood events.
