It's still the off season here but HS tryouts are this week. It's a nice and much longer day today, I feel like I should be sitting out watching a game. I'm glad though that's its almost mid March and in a couple of weeks I'll get to watch a baseball game again! Smile

Ahhh but today is a gorgeous day...50 degrees, kids getting restless though. We northeners so appreciate these beautiful sunny days and hope that we have many more.
Darn! Their talking rain tomorrow...imagine that! Be a few more days before the field is even close to being ready. First game is March 28th then we cram a ton of games in until the middle of May when tournaments start!
I love baseball season!
2014 son is @ Disney this week and it's killing me I'm not there watching. I am here in PA getting fields ready when they come back (I work @ sons school) Edged and weeded V field today,JV field tomorrow and softball field Fri.calling for sun and 60-70's thurs. & fri. hope to have fields tined, dragged and ready for scrimmage on Tues, 1st game on Weds, and first conference game on Sat.
Tryouts are next week up here in NH. but this year they only represent 52 more weeks of rehab till son gets to play again. He is 12 weeks post TJ surgery today so a long long way to go before he faces a batter again. Will be a long season watching him not play this season. Thankfully it is only his sophomore season so he still has his Jr and Sr years to look forward to.

I get to work on just watching a game and not shouting out encouragement or corrections to my son out on the field...lol Be good to break that habit some! Big Grin

JV and V each have their own field? WOW! Is that standard in your area? Private school? Very nice.

Yes private school but JV field is very simple nothing close to what V is but still a lot of work. Not standard for the local public schools as a matter of fact only 2 of the 5 public schools in the county have there own fields the other 3 use fields owned by the boroughs or townships.
Most of the schools in our area have a V and JV field. The varsity fields are much nicer than all the jv fields and the varsity fields have fences while jv fields typically don't. In fact many of the jv fields are pretty bad for the most part. The 9th grade in our school system is in the jr high and the freshman team have ther own field. JV & V travel to all games together while freshman teams do the opposite of V & JV teams. All three teams play the same schools but if the V & JV are home, freshman are on the road and vise-versa. This solves the problem for those schools who don't have a jv and/or a freshman field.
