How hard would someone here say it is to make it to D1AA I go to a rather influential HS in baseball with 6 kids going D1 this year but I'm only a freshman but have been looking at colleges. Can anyone help?
Welcome to HSBBWeb. You are a smart young man to be looking that far into the future. I have a 15 year old freshmen playing JV, and he is starting to ask the same questions. You can feel comfortable in asking these question on this site. We have a mix of parents, former players and current players to help you.
I think you may have your terms mixed up for College Baseball....there is no D1AA in baseball. There is D1, D2, D3, NAIA, and JUCO. My understanding is D1AA used to refer to a football division that is now the FCS which has a college football playoff.
I'm not sure what an "influential" high school is. If you have 6 players from your high school going to play D1 baseball next year, you should have a pretty good idea about their baseball level. They should be very accomplished high school players with all distric/all state or on very high visibility travel teams. Once they get to college they will realize that their college team is made up of very accomplished former high school players just like themselves and competition for playing time is extremely demanding.
You can go to collegeboard.com to give you a ball park of their required academics and board scores for their specific schools.
It's great to lay the ground work early and get used to contacting schools and coaches once a month. Of course it comes down to your skill set and if you are marketing yourself to the right programs. This site is a wealth of information - use it well.
