I posted this in the pre-high schol forum first but it wasn't getting many looks or any responses so I thought I'd post it over here. I know many of you have been through the youth competitive baseball experience and hopefully some of you have some first hand knowledge about the Kansas City baseball scene.

It looks like we will be moving across the state (we're in St. Louis) around the end of summer. My son currently plays on a 12U USSSA Major team and I'll be looking for a team of the same caliber when we get up there. I know there's some good clubs over there as we've played against some of them in the past at tournaments.

Is there a message board of some kind for KC area baseball where coaches post for players wanted and for players who are looking for teams can also post?

I'll be seeking a team that really focuses on skill development and has knowledgeable coaches who focus on instruction when at practice. We currently have a great team with a great coaching staff who really work with the kids on skill development, not just throw BP and hit ground balls. They really focus on the proper mechanics and teach very well and it'll be very hard to leave that but the job situation calls for it.

So, if anyone is up on KC youth baseball, knows some websites or forums to visit so I can investigate further, I'd appreciate any info you can share.

Thanks in advance.

Every Tuesday in the sports section of the KC Star newspaper there is a section regarding sporting events, tryouts, tournaments, etc. Its called Starting Times and its always near the back of the sports section in little bitty print. If you can get your hands on a newspaper every Tuesday (I can't find this section online), you'll get an idea who's looking for players.

Competetive teams play at various facilities. I'm familiar with Johnson County 3 & 2

Blue Valley Gold Glove

and WYCO

It depends on where you plan to live and how far you're willing to drive.
I think the best indoor facility in town is Mac 'n Seitz (formerly Old Ballgame) in Martin City, MO.

Our pitching instructor is Tom Urquhart. He has recently opened his own facility.

These are only my suggestions. There are lots more around town. Good luck and let me know if you need any more info.
Thanks for the info you provided. I'm familiar with Mac N Seitz, heard they were expensive to play for? Didn't see anything on their site about the teams they have.

Just looking for info so I can find the right team for my son. I'm sure we'll have to do the tryout process which he's only done once. He no longer has to tryout for our area competitive teams because everyone knows who he is. That'll be a new experience for him when we get there.

If anyone else has any info to add I'd appreciate any additional info/insight. We'll be on the Missouri side, probably will reside in Liberty or Kearney.
I strongly urge you to investigate North Kansas City.

Plenty of reasons.......but it was worth the 1 hour drive round trip from Johnson County KS.
At my son's specific age group, now age 21, I know of 20+ North Kansas City players still playing as college seniors. There are at least seven from his team alone. I'm positive that can't be said elsewhere in K.C.

Hello Redhawks, My son plays for a 12U USSSA major team based out of North Kansas City / Liberty (although we have boys from many other outlying areas). I can give you plenty of information on teams from our area as well as ours.

Just for additional information are you moving to KC area prior to our first annual KC vs St. Louis tournament. I know the KC teams are coming to St. Louis first and if you are still there you should be able to see atleast 5 of the top KC teams from our area. I am pretty sure the Redhawks have signed on for this tournament. If you are leaving before then (I think it was mid-May) just give me a shout and I will give you as much information as I can.
