It was a wild night at Bearden tonight as Karns started their 2004 season.
Bearden started with Ben Irwin on the mound who threw 4 innings and left trailing 8-7. Brian Jessie finished the game for the Bulldogs.
Karns started Eric Hill who thre 3 innings and left with a 7-4 lead, Soph. Evan Patterson relieved Eric, but gave uo 4 runs and the Bulldogs led 8-7 before Landon Chester stopped the bleeding in the bottom of the 4th inning. Kendale Roach hit a 2 run HR for the Bulldogs to take the lead.
Neither team scored in the 5th, but Karns struck for 4 runs in the 6th and Bearden bounced back in the bottom of the inning to score 2 runs on another 2 run HR by Kendale Roach to close the 6th with the Beavers ahead 11-10.
Karns again pushed across 4 runs as Cale Iorg hit a 3 run bomb and Karns would score once more to take a 15-10 lead into the bottom of the 7th inning.
Bearden would add 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th, but the Beavers Clint Fox would come in to close the Bulldogs threat.
The Bulldogs stranded 9 baserunners while the Beavers did a better job with 5 stranded. Kendal Wells is a tough out for the Bulldogs as the cleanup hitter.
The Beavers had 17 hits tonight to 12 for the Bulldogs. Cale Iorg lived up to his hype tonight as he went 5 for 5 and had 8 RBI's, Cale had 2 1B, 2 2B and a HR.
Wes Lee also 2 hits, 4 RBI's on a 1B and 2B, Jody Phillips hit leadoff and was 4 for 5 on the night. The Beavers played error free ball while the Bulldogs had 4 errors.
Bearden brings a well coached, but young team to play and one that can hit the ball well and they run the base paths very well. They like to have the hit-and-run on. They will be a force in 4-AAA, it not this year, then soon.
