Sorry can't agree with you. In my humble opinion. At the 15 year old level I believe it is a national tournament. Beast Jr. played in it and he wouldn't trade it for all the USSSA, Super Series, and whatever else so called national tournaments (excluding Perfect Game Tournaments) that are out there where they take the top 64 teams, 48 teams, 32 teams. You know where you keep playing every weekend till you get a qualifying spot. I remember when USSSA had the elite 16, before that they had 40 teams in that tournament. I see they are back up to the "Elite 32". I guess somebody finally came to there senses and put a pencil to it and figured out how much money they were missing out on. I am not bashing anyone. Everyone has to do what they think is best for there kid. Its not easy to figure it out when you have just one kid. You feel like you are doing the right thing. If you have multiple kids you can learn from the previous and correct somethings.
I like the AABC format you win you keep playing. More teams need to get in it.
This is old school baseball. In this format you could be headed back home after 2 games. They wouldn't get their 4 or 5 game guarantee.
The new generation parents doesn't like it much because they can't plan their vacations as well.
You know like going to the beach or to see the mouse during the tournament.
If you are going to go on a vacation. Then take a vacation. Get away from the baseball field for a week or a weekend. Believe me little Johnny is not going to forget how to play the game in a week. After having been thru this for the last 12 years. There are only a couple of things I would have changed. I would not have let Junior play baseball in the fall until he was in high school. And kids should not have to play 4 baseball games on Sunday. JMHO. And we would have taken some real vacations.
Sorry for the long post.
But I was just trying to get out of mowing the yard.
Didn't work.
Good luck to DBat-Mustangs-Guthrie-Dow.
My son has played with or against most of those kids. And it has been a pleasure watching all of those kids grow up.
