Recently two different posters commented on they guys that used to post here. Players who many of us have tried to follow their careers. I know that Kenny Smalley played with one of my former players James Denton at Delta State. I also know that Kenny was Gulf South Conference All-Tournament Team "Most Outstanding Player!"

So, Kenny and some of you young guys that used to post a lot, what are you up to now? College? Baseball?

CoachB, Long time no talk. I have been staying on top of school work to go along with the numerous extra curricular activities that I am involved in. I am starting to feel like an old timer in the college baseball ranks. This is my last go round and I plan on coaching this summer. Alot of exciting things are happing at illinois state with a new stadium and a new head coach soon to be. Hopefully we will get this thing turned around wtih coach kingston coming in and they are putting alot of responsibility on my shoulders to lead them in that direction but I would have that no other way. Past years I havnt played to the potential I always knew I could play at. After coming off of one of the worst summers any player could possibly imagine I turned a page when fall baseball came around and started playing the way I always have. I expect to have a big year this year and have alot of fun doing it. It is nice to know you all have not forgot about players like me, kenny and many others.
Hope all is well, Mike
Mike, THANKS FOR MAKING MY DAY! WOW, GREAT TO HEAR FROM YOU! You bet you're going to have a great year! Remember the line in Remember the Titans? "Attitude reflects leadership!" With you leading the way, things ARE looking up at Illinois State! As always, if you ever need anything, send me an email or pm. GOOD LUCK!

Heyy Coach, long time no talk. I have just been enjoying the offseason recently teaching lessons almost everyday, all day. I enjoy it, and I get to stay around baseball during the offseason, and thats a plus. I just started with the offseason workouts and am looking forward to going down to spring training in the spring.

Kenny, where are you giving lessons at? Any details? How was the ride to this point professionally? Well, I'm too nosey! James Denton, I heard, had a good fall and so, maybe he'll get to take the bump a few times next year. I think it is neat that you and Mike both were/are able to play with some of my former players. Who'd thunk???
It is called Finish Strong. The place is in West Chicago right off of Roosevelt. It is a pretty cool place, has a place to long toss and a place where u can run a simulated scrimmage against live pitching. Like I said, it is fun being around baseball in the offseason and learning more and more everyday from other instructors.

Professional ball is everything I hoped it would be. It is a lot of fun, and I had a decent year. It was fun playing against old teamates or other kids i knew from the area.

I just talked to James the other day, I heard he had a good fall as well. Im sure he will be a part of Delta State this year, maybe a long relief guy is what I was hearing.
