Mama Kershaw is on board!

Any trade between the Rangers and Dodgers that brings Highland Park's Clayton Kershaw home gets the seal of approval from his mom.

I informed Marianne Kershaw a few minutes ago that such a deal was the buzz of the blog. I assured her that the Rangers had learned from their previous mistakes with pitching prospects and would develop her baby the right way. That's all she needed to hear.

"I love the Dodgers guys," she said, "but having my baby home would be wonderful."

We figured Clayton could commute from her house to Frisco next season, but maybe he oughta get a place of his own by the time he gets to the big leagues.

Mama Kershaw said she hasn't changed a thing in Clayton's bedroom since he became a millionaire a year ago. A bunch of his old jerseys, cut into squares and stitched together, still cover the ceiling. She'd love to eventually add a Rangers jersey.

Jon Daniels, don't you dare let this nice lady down!!!

And I can remember just a few short years ago how I had to remind Ms. Kershaw over and over that Clayton would have "plenty" of opportunities.

I think she was worried about him getting a college opportunity. Big Grin Smile

It would be nice if he came to Texas, but I find that very unlikely.

The Dodgers are a rich in pitching tradition. They know how to find it and develope it.

Kershaw is one of, if not the best left handed prospect in all of baseball.

It's gonna take a lot more than Tex to get something like that.

Tex will be a free agent very soon and then what would the Dodgers have? Another out priced Boras client.

Plus, have you seen? The Dodgers just brought up a 1B from the farm and sent Nomar to third. The rookie is doing very well.

Anyhow, that's how I see it. But it would be nice to see a legit arm every fifth day in the rotation around here.

I read the blog and found it surprising that they would call Clayton the "anti-Blake Beavan". Eek

For Clayton's sake, I hope this doesn't happen. The Rangers would just screw it up and he'd somehow get hurt in the process. He's too good of a kid to watch that happen to him.

In this year's draft the Rangers went HS-heavy yet had two chances to draft Rick Porcello and passed apparently due to monetary concerns. IMO this is not an organization trying to better itself and they likely won't until Hicks sells the team.

Please don't let the Rangers get a hold of this kid. He is having such a good year. The Rangers will only screw it up. Besides they don't want any lefties, they got rid of a good one. The best thing that could happen to Blake Beavan in a couple of years is for him to get traded, because when they leave here they have a good career.
The only way this could happen would be if the current Dodger GM was about to be hired as the Rangers new GM and the last thing he did before he left as the Dodgers GM was to trade Kershaw to the Rangers.

Would the Rangers be willing to trade SEVERAL of their top pitching prospects for Kershaw (which is what it would take - no way would the Dodgers trade Kershaw for a position player of the caliber that the Rangers have). I just can't see this happening.
Wow, what a post on the "Blog" to call Blake Beavan the "Anti" of Clayton Kershaw! Well whatever, who ever wrote that. They obviously do NOT know Blake and only read what the "Media" writes and puts on TV without any regard to anything. My parents taught me to "Believe most of what you See" and "Some of what you Read" and NONE of what you hear. But, I guess that was the good old days. Thank you DBAT GM for at least finding it surprising! It just goes to show you that the people who know Blake have a WHOLE different opinion that the people who don't.

I agree with you and find it unfortunate.

But, please understand entering professional baseball is joining the entertainment business.

And no matter who the real player maybe, the perception is what matters. Example, Barry Bonds.

There are certain ways to gain public popularity and to lose it.

I'm sure Blake will get some professional guidence on how to handle situations in order to gain it in a big way.

It's a new world out there. The spotlight will be on regardless if he strikes out 21 or 1 each game.

I'm sure he will do fine and best of luck.
