He may never walk again, much less play football. It's just a tragic situation. It just goes to show that it can all be taken away in an instant. My prayers and best wishes are with Mr. Everett
I have looked for the video several times, and never was able to find it. It's horrible and I don't know why I want to see the footage because I've seen footage of this type of thing before. In fact, I saw it firsthand Saturday night here in Cape Girardeau and it led to a college player being taken off on a backboard. Scary because there is so little that can be done.

I hope for recovery in this case and in the case I mentioned. I don't know the extent of the college player's injuries--that doesn't make national news. Kevin Everett is in for a long recovery IF he is able to make a recovery. I wish him well.
This is amazing.
I heard Nick Bionicotti ?(excuse spelling) on the radio this morning. The therapy used on Everett is called cold therapy. Same therapy as used when you have a sprain, use ice immediately. Right after the accident, they used a cold fluid with medication to inject into his veins that heads for the spinal column, that cold fluid allows for the spinal cord swelling to stop and begin healing without further damage. He is expected to walk again.

The Miami Project which developed this, now has approval from the FDA to begin research on humans where they take specific cells from arms and legs and inject into the spinal cord to rejuvenate. They have had 70% success rate in laboratory animals.

Who says miracles don't happen in this day and age?
