a recent chat with college coaches and mlb scouts brought up a new thing among players to leave the dugout and go into the stands and kiss your girlfriend before they went up to hit.

Each player struck out on three pitches and the coach blamed the girlfriend for their lack of hitting.

The college coaches and mlb scouts wrote the players as a NP

really who does that? i would never do that. if i did im sure my coaches would sit me down on the bench. i am too into the game to go outside the field.

Yeah, you want your players focused in on the game. If they are off giving their GF a kiss instead of watching the opposing pitcher.. then chances are their head aren't in the game.. and gee they struck out on 3 straight pitches.. I wonder why

I'd say if it's a problem, talk to the players individually and let them know that it isn't acceptable during the game

In over 40 years of baseball, I don't ever recall seeing this. Have seen many strange things and strange behavior much worse than kissing a girl friend.

Don't think I would automatically NP the player. This would be considered correctable.

Most coaches I know would tell the player "Just go ahead & enjoy it. 'Cause since you're going to be seating in the stands from now on, you might as well find something to keep yourself entertained."

Yes TR it really happen several times. The players smouching, are getting bounced from the team.

But it did look cool when Antonio Banderas kissed Selma Hayek before shooting all the bad guys in Desperado.

The offending players should have hit a home run

I have never seen such a thing either in all the years of watching baseball. If a player did this, I would say they don't belong playing the game. Coach blaming the GF, I doubt it.

I have seen where GF's bring their BF's water or something to eat to the dugout. And it's usually when that team is up to bat. No kissing, though.

I know my son's coach would not allow that. The GF's stay in the stands and the players stay in the dugout when not on the field.

We did have a guy who showed up late to a game after "hooking up" with a girl, he went 4-4 with a Grand Slam....never seen anyone kiss their g/f before an AB though...

If my players did that, I'd bench him immediately! How focused are you if your main objective is to get a little sugar from your sweetie? Players should be ready to play - kissing a girlfriend before hitting is possibly the dumbest thing I've ever heard of!
