Had the great pleasure of meeting Rob Kremer and his son at the Headfirst Camp at Sacramento. Kremer Jr is a STUD '09, and was singled out by the HF staff after a couple of games for his out-and-out hustle and leadership behind the dish. You will be hearing a lot about this kid as the '09s begin to take the floor.

Krak Jr had great outings at Stanford and HF, and receibved several offers over the week. I can't believe it! I never thought this would happen for us, but he wrecked 'em, especially at HF, and had a pile of coaches behind the backstop watching. Couldn't be happier with the opportunities provided by both Stanford and HF......looks like Krak Jr will play college ball and will even have some offers to sort through. Relief!!

The BEST part was that Kremer Jr and Krak Jr ended up on the same team, and T was able to throw to J behind the plate during the game, and Rob and I were up in the stands enjoying every minute of watching our boys play ball together!

EH, thanks. We leave tomorrw for tournaments in KS and OK, then back to Seattle for a few weeks. I really like the Rocklin area - great weather and attractive countryside. You're lucky to be a NorCalian!

We now have to work up several campus visits in the next few weeks before heading back to Korea. Some vacation!! But it has to be done!!
It was really great. Krak and I knew we were both going to be at the showcase, but to have our boys both assigned to the same team was terrific.

Krak's kid Tristan had to sit through 1 1/2 days before his turn to pitch, in the hot sun, as all the other guys got to play and get dirty. And in the team's last game, he pitched to 30 batters.

My son spent a half inning late in the game in the other team's dugout (for reasons too involved to get into) and his report as to what the other team was saying about Krak Jr: "Man, that guy is throwing some DIRTY stuff!"

Terrific movement on the pitches, and among the best velocity I saw at the event. There is zero doubt that Krak Jr. has a future in the college game.

And the interest from the college coaches confirmed it.

What others have said about this showcase I found to be spot on. The 25 college coaches who were there weren't just kicking the tires. It was obvious that they use the Headfirst organization to identify talent that qualifies for the academic rigor of their institutions.

When Krak Jr. pitched there were from 5-9 guys sitting watching not behind the backstop, but behind a screen sitting 5 feet behind the catcher (which for part of the game was my son.)

Turns out Krak Jr. has command of many pitches, not the least of which is a knuckler that he can throw for a strike, and which I saw on at least three occasions leave the poor batter simply mystified.

It was really, really cool, after a couple years interacting with Krak, to have our boys not just meet, but to become friends and also to share a couple innings pitch/catch together as a bunch of college coaches looked on.

The only problem was that Krak Jr's fastballs had so much run on them my son struggled to look good catching them!
Rob, no kid with as filthy a uniform as J had after every game can ever look bad. Good luck getting that uniform clean, my friend! I will really look forward to seeing where he ends up. Obviously, the coaches at HF have him at the top of their lists after this weekend......he will have no shortage of options from far and wide. Nice kid, too!! Love to see the nice ones do so well and go out and get 'er done in such a convincing manner with stick, glove, arm, and 'presence'. See ya at the omelette bar tomorrow!

This is a wonderful thread and has ME doing the "big goofy grin" look. Congrats to the sons of two very nice members...it sounds like they are heading toward some exciting college opportunities. Enjoy the rest of your trip and then have safe travels back to Korea, Krak and T!

Does it get BETTER than this????? I ask ya! This is soooo stinkin' cool!!!!!! Shortstawpmommas son hopes to meet Krak's son too and watch him play this coming weekend in Kansas. Should be a good one.

This is a prime example of why the HSBBW is so incredible and special. Bringing the baseball family together for generations to come. Baseball info shared, friendships started, and memories of a lifetime.
Ya just gotta looooove it!!!!!

I would have given my two front teeth to see these boys play together,..and I'd throw my left elbow in too to have had shortstawpmomma's son get in on the action, with em'. Big Grin

Perhaps one day we can find an empty field and lets these HSBBW play a few sandlot innings.

Man,...great job Krak Jr., Kremer Jr. and dad's!!

Bring it to Kansas Krak, Jr. and show these mid state boyzzzz how its done!!! We'll be rootin' for ya!!

Best of luck with this whole recruiting process all!! Its a wild ride, God love it!!

A Kremer-Krak battery in college would be awesome. Kremer's son is a beast, and just a super individual. Loads of talent, and very tangible field leadership skills. I know I'm sounding like a broken record, but I'm big on this kid. In all the showcases, tourneys, teams etc we've done, three kids have stood out, to me, big-time due to the combination of skill and 'presence' on the field. Guys any coach, anywhere, would love to have with him for four years: Sean Finn who now plays at Dayton; David Wright who is an '08 from Aledo, Texas; and now young Kremer.

The HF camp was so cool because it was 'intimate'....the coaches were right there, accessible, and the guys from HeadFirst were absolutely Top Notch. If your player is a solid academic kid and has skills, can't recommend their camp highly enough.
