The local HS teams have missed at least 6 practices and 1 scrimmage so far this season. With opening day less than 2 weeks away, what are the consequences of this missed time? IMO, the younger kids or first year varsity players are going to suffer a little bit. Not getting to see as much live pitching, defense repetitions, and game simulations is bound to effect the quality of play early on. Any thoughts or opinions?

Last night we got 12 innings in. We threw 12 kids 1 inning each...no breaking pitches, just fastballs and change up.

Batted 10, starters played 6 or 7 innings, back ups played the rest. Lots of reps for everyone. Held one kids out from the mound.

I agree with tychco, everyone is in the same boat here. Lost another practice today. IF we have school tomorrow, we won't be able to go outside.

My biggest concern are the arms. We had been throwing alot so the time off probably has helped them. There were a few kids last night that had a little more giddy up last night (pleasant surprise). Command wasn't there, not surprised.

Parents, hang in there, its a marathon, not a sprint.

Wish we could have just stayed home if that is the case.

Did you forget that its called student/athlete and you have to go to school, baseball will take care of itself. Plus the weather is getting better each day now.

Guys, it is still Winter, you have to expect a little of this. Once about through the tournaments the weather will be a bunch better. Just be happy we do not live further NORTH. We'll be wishing for a cold snap along July and 100 in Texas. God Bless America!
we're spoiled in tx...we complain about missing practices, but yet in some cases we still get to practice in those big field houses and some schools have turf fields. some us remember playing up north and making our spring trip south without even seeing a baseball outside of a gymn. it all balances out. spring time, here we come.
