Dumb question. We haven't played at Lakepoint in a few years. Would molds or turfs be best for MIF/P? Thanks.

Suggest molds. Son wears lacrosse ones, in fact, when playing at LP.
Son liked turfs better. I actually thought about getting him Salomon shoes. There are a lot of slow pitch guys in the big tournaments that play on turf that say they are the best. They have a lot more grip than regular tennis shoes and turfs but don't have the rollover effect that molded cleats have on turf.
My sone used turfs last year and CompV2’s this year. He liked the CompV2’s better. He never slipped in turfs but he said he just felt more stable
After playing there for past 7 years, CompV2's became my son's first choice. Molded cleats would be preferred over Turfs. Turfs are "usually" fine, but they will slip if it gets wet. IMO, pitchers should definitely not wear Turfs.
2022 pitched in Nike Huarache Elite 2 molded cleats last night after midnight. It rained all day off and on and some during their game. His footing was rock solid and he set a PR for fastball velo in those conditions. The Nikes have tall cleats with sharp angular edges, they do well on wet turf. Some molded cleats have smoother cleat profiles and can be slippery on wet turf. If wearing turfs, I would make sure they have an aggressive lug as some of the more “trainer” type turfs aren’t much more than tennis shoes on the bottom.
Follow up: every PO on son’s team wears molded @ LP. And the 3 opposing pitchers they faced today were wearing them as well.
Molded is the way to go at LP. If it rains turfs are VERY slick.
COMPV2 reviews say that they run narrow and are not durable. This true?
I think it depends on how much you use them. My son is only using them at Lakepoint and Boombah. I'd hope they would make it through 2 or 3 tournaments.
He tried using them on regular clay and his footing wasn't as good as with metal spikes.
Molded cleats. We had a lot of trouble with turfs there. Slipping on the mound and getting out of the box.
Son has not had good luck with the NB molded cleats. Tend to be more uncomfortable than the metals for some reason.
He has used Nike Alpha Hurache lacrosse cleats for 3 years now when it comes to molded cleats. Finds them to be much more comfortable than any baseball molded cleat. Assume they are just designed for more running than baseball ones, but they definitely provide him more comfort over long periods of catching. And can often find in his size (15) at a good price.
