Would like update on how it's going for pitchers pitching on turf mounds there and not being able to wear spikes. Does it get slippery after rain? Headed there soon and wonder what son should bring to wear? Football cleats Maybe? Thanks

If your son is going to a PG event, all of the mounds on the PG fields are traditional dirt/clay (everything else is turf). Only the Lakepoint 13U fields are all-synthetic.
Holy smokes! I just checked out the PG Lakepoint blog and you're right: It appears that the PG fields are sporting turf mounds. Hopefully, PGStaff will chime-in on this one. My son is also headed there in July, so now I'm wondering the same thing...
My son played at a complex with turf mounds a couple weeks ago. We went and purchased a pair of molded baseball cleats. They're not expensive....he got some nice Nike's for $35. He pitched and didn't have any issues.
In a previous thread PGSTAFF said Molded Cleats are best for pithers
Yep, just bought a pair of molded cleats online. Man, am I glad I saw this thread. Once again, HSBaseballWeb is an awesome site for many, MANY things.
I wasn't able to go to the game, but son's team played there last week and regular baseball spikes are allowed and were what most everyone was using as far as he's aware. Not sure how that works with the turf, or if it's better/worse than molded cleats or turfs, but thought I'd throw it out there.
Thanks guys.
hope we don't get rain during or day of it can make turf mound slippery
guess he'll have to deal w it.
