There are many reasons for the DH to go away (I still regard it as a misguided experiment). I enjoy baseball as chess-with-sweat and a game involving most (perhaps all) athletic skills for every team member....even the guy on that little humpy thing in the middle.

But for those who enjoy the game on a more superficial Arm And Hammer sense....there's the DH Wink.

But with college, travel teams, and some hs teams using the DH, pitchers are getting the bats taken out of their hands so early they may never recover the skill. If the objective at those levels is to get one more player in the game even on such a limited basis, stick with that pleasant invention the EH. But all nine players from the field hit. Who knows, pitchers just might be able to handle it! Cool

You can never go wrong with that one Orlando.

Going to be a great game tonight in SF.
Tim Lincecum SF Giant's vs. Vin Mazzaro Oakland A's
Vin had a win in his MLB debut last tues. agains't the Chisox's
and pitched another shutout on sunday.
Now this will be his biggest game to date.
And his first time swinging a bat since he graduated from HS in 2005 out of New Jersey.
I sure hope it's on TV.

I'm a big fan of the DH but another pitcher who had a good day with the bat was the Tigers' Rick Porcello in his last start. The 20 yr old went 2-2 in his first major league at-bats, drove in 2 runs to almost single-handedly win his start 3-1. Also pitched 7 innings of 1-run ball.

Looks like them NJ boys Porcello and Mazzaro can handle the bat.

Back in the middle school days, youth football had a rule that reversed the extra point scoring...2 points for kick extra points, 1 point for extra points from scrimmage. The reasoning was that all the teams at that age could run the ball in, but few could kick it. This gave an unfair advantage to the team that had the freak that could kick a football well at 12 years old.

I love the DH. Why should a team have an advantage because it has the freak pitcher that can hit the baseball well? Let hitters hit, pitchers pitch. Let's see the best we have to offer, not some fish out of water.
