JMO but too much worrying going on about what it all means.

You get a questionaire, fill it out and return with your spring and summer schedule asap.

Instead of thinking about calling coach asking where you stand, first you have to prove that you are worthy of his consideration for an opportunity.

Go out and play your best, you'll get plenty of calls come July 1.

Last week another personal letter with dates school is starting, practicve on this date, first game against this team on this date. Much about players drafted out of high school who improve their draft postion after going to this school. A ton about academic support. Key to me was they said they will be mailing him an update letter each week during the season and they want him to do the same once his season gets started.

BTW, sounds like Clemson, if not then another ACC school uses the same form, if so, things haven't changed much.
My point is, follow advice, don't worry, just do well on the field as well as in the classroom. Enjoy this time without trying to decipher every letter and what it means. Wink

Sounds alot like Clemson. You will continue to get those update letters. Many players will continue to get those update letters. They will narrow down their list as time goes by. It starts with wide net and narrows all the way up to the point they start making offers. Its nice to know you are on the radar. Now the key is to continue to work hard on the field and in the classroom. And hopefully the letters will turn into offers. Good luck
Thanks again for all the great advice.

I have asked my son to read all your comments on this question -"are they interested?". I think he will come to the conclusion they aren't knocking down his door to get him as a player but at least they know where his door is - thats a start.

I am happy to hear all of the academic comments. The one consistent message I send to my son is its flattering that you have enough baseball talent that schools are interested in you, however, the main purpose of college is to get a good education. I told him his goal should be to see if his baseball skills gets him into a college/university that he may not have been accepted on his own (sans baseball). For example he has heard from excellent academic schools including one in the Ivy League. He is a very good student (3.70 on 4.0 scale)so his baseball may get him into a top notch school that under normal conditions is a reach.

Like most kids when a new school contacts him he immediately goes to the web-site looks at the facilities, the schedule, roster, uniforms etc. After he is done with that I make him look up the schools' academic ranking in US News and World Report. He also has to spend time looking at the schools cirriculm choices - the end game is getting a good education.

Nice quess on the school that wrote to him you guys have been through this drill - Agian thanks for your help.
nhmonty,

No guess, son got the same letters and I saved them all. Wink

BTW, great place to go to school and play baseball. Check it out. Follow through. YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN!

Best of luck to your son, sounds like you all got it together. Enjoy the ride!
