As a parent of one of the Wildcats all I can say is WOW what a great summer. Son has had a blast and has learned there is more to life than just baseball. His teams might not have the big names or big game but play the game the way its meant to be played. KIDS HAVING FUN. Most of these kids might not play another inning after the Connie Mack WS but everyone of these kids will be great leaders, teachers, doctors, engineers.

After we qualified in Colorado we might of had a more laid back approach. We had a 6 man rotation. The rotation didn't change at all according to who we were playing. Some kids might have been overmatched but our motto was just play better defense and score more runs. We could of used one of 3 pitchers that had a combined record(HS,SUMMER)44-3 and not given a kid that deserved a chance...a chance to grow. Wonderful life lessons about playing as a TEAM and supporting your Team Mates.

Good luck to all remaining teams.
Clemente21 -- I think your previous post represents a refreshing approach to summer baseball. I do not have a problem with teams that choose to follow a different strategy, which might include a few more victories, but I agree that these kids should be having FUN while developing in the summer. Some have "criticized" (for lack of a better word) the Wildcats for appearing to be less competitive since claiming their Farmington birth...and some wonder if they will be able to turn it back on in a few weeks --- but no one questions their strength ---> the TEAM concept.

I'm sure the guys will have great fun in NM, regardless of the outcome.

I've seen Wildcats coaches in the stands at TCU and UTA scouting games both days looking to see who they'll pick up for the WS. You can't tell me that they don't have every intention of playing to win in Farmington.

It's got to be difficult to keep up the intensity and stay motivated after qualifying for the WS so early. We were one hit away from swapping places with them back in Colorado and I can't say I wouldn't enjoy having to deal with that problem as well... Smile

Let's get real here - they're going to the greatest amateur baseball tournament in the country for the second year in a row. 11,000+ packing the stands every game, kids falling over each other to get autographs and keepsakes from the players, exposure out the whazzoo and a memorable experience to be sure. Who cares if they lost a game or two during the summer by going through the motions in preparation for the big dance....they're the ones that are going!

My son and I would like a more rigid schedule of baseball.Believe me he has played for Coach Perry
which I know runs probably the most demanding and disciplined program there is. I'm all for it but for the scholar athlete a summer such as the one we are having it just doesn't get any better than this.Team Goal:Knock out a couple college credits and play in the Connie Mack World Series.
Goals accomplished!!!!
My kids a ballplayer not a scholar so its kind of nice to see the game through a kid that knows he's going to a winner even if he loses a baseball game....REALITY

Enjoy your travels Clemente21 and keep making the memories!

Ditto.......great posts Roberto. Please keep us posted on the CM tourney. Good luck to Taylor this summer and next spring. Great news about Cade, huh! I'm happy for him and his family. I know they are relieved to finally know where he'll be playing/attending school next month.

Is Taylor ready for the 50 day baseball off-season program when school starts? Hope it cools off a little before it starts.

Bye.

Well, I can't believe all the great games and how well all the kids appear to be playing,,, I hope that carries over to high school play. It always seems to me that everyone is on top of their game all summer ( from reading the post on here) But I don't understand why all these top notch kids don't perform as well during high school season. Not being a smart ___. I am really interested in the reason behind this.
