cibaseball- I play for the NY Nine. I played with the Showcase team over the summer and then played with Ian for the fall. Every player that signed an NLI is an extremely good ballplayer and should do very well in their respective colleges. There are still several more players that should be committing somewhere soon, so it will be interesting to see what turns up.

The link to the team website is www.newyorknine.org for anyone that is interested.

In terms of other LI teams, the Mariners, Tigers, Titans are all good. In Brooklyn, the Bonnies and Youth Service are good. Bayside is top of the line as well, too bad they aren't able to enter any PG tournaments though.

The Smart Wall Bombers are a relatively unknown team that we played several times and are pretty good. they threw good arms at us every time. Outside of LI, in the metro area, there is also Team Ct., the Arsenal and ProSwing, to go along with NY Nine and the others listed above.

Good thing the World Yacht Clippers opted to not have a fall team. 5 of those players listed all played through the summer with them and a few for more then 1 year. I belive Luciano was there for 3 years....

Weren't all these guys also members of the S Florida Bandits????? I don't believe the NY9 had anything at all to do with where they're going...

Catch23- I do know that some of those players did play with NY Nine. The spirit of the post was to congratulate some great ball players and a nice coach. I will leave the rest to others.

I do know that the World Yacht Clippers is a very good organization and Joe Mercurio is a good guy. He has helped many players. Joe has been kind enough to give some good advice to our family through the recruiting process.
Cathy thanks... It's true that a few of these boys played the summer with us then in the fall split time between the other 2 teams. We do not take credit for any player receiving and accepting an offer. It is the player. There is no one who can convince a college coach to give a player money and make him a part of a program if the kid can't play.

What we have done is give the player opportunity to be in the right places. There is one kid on the list who was a true unknown. We gave him an opportunity last summer to play and travel. He would have never gotten the opportunity and the end result is he pitched himself, by his performance into an ACC school and will most likely be a high draft choice. His exposure through PG events was key.

During the summer this kid pitched in the PG Sunshine NE, PG 17U in East Cobb, The Bayside Yankee Liberty Tourn, the PG Top Prospect Games, The Empire State Games(NY), The Nutmeg Games(CT). With us not having a fall team this year he pitched in the PG Northeast Qualifier with the Bandits and a few weekend games with NY Nine.

What this kid earned he did on his own with a 89-92 MPH FB from a 6'2" LHP.....We'll be following him.. The rest is splitting hairs..

Catch23- I believe the purpose of the post was to congratulate all the players that received D-1 offers and signed D-1 letters and to praise a program that, in their 1st year of existence, sent every single senior on their summer roster to college, finished 3rd in the NABF WS and now has this list of players being sent to college through the fall.

Whether or not the organization had anything to do with these players being noticed is irrelevant. This post could very well have been about Coach Merc's organization, but it was shifted to the NY9 because that was the topic. The players that played for the Clippers also played for the NY9 in the fall and some on the Bandits. However, the Bandits is merely a showcase team and only puts teams into PG tournaments and such, Ie: Jupiter. To say that the NY9 didn't have anything to do with these players getting scholarships is a matter of your personal discretion and opinion, but the initial intention of the post was to be congratulatory not to attempt to pit two organizations against each other.

Coach Merc- he's a pretty good one, eh? Between him, Ken and Hugh there sure are some good power arms in the area.
i have sat back and watched this topic go from
top n.e.travel teams to who is going to school
from what organization.on other topics it also
has turned into the same thing.on some of the web sites of some of the teams it also looks as
if these players who may have played for these
teams for a weekend or five years ago owe their
college signing to that team.
i think the best way of relating to how these
players got where there going[the exposer and
the p.r.]is to have the parents of the players
relate to what transpired.parents like brooks
and magrath[wake]ranaudo and lemahieu[LSU]sherry
[n.d,]fondu[furmin]o'hagan[wofford]cuccharella,
frabisille,smith,zarraga,weinkofsky,berroa,[uncg]casille and manning[vandy]striz[unc]reckling[high point]matthews[rutgers]luciano[duke]colantonio[brown]pavone[conn.]to name a
few.i am going to ask some of these people to post how things happened.it may be informative
to some of you out there on how things really
happen in the recruiting process.

thank you
j.bags- you are absolutely right. My apologies for taking this post somewhat off topic.

I can speak for a few of the players named above as I have played with them and are friendly with some of them. Some of the info is personal, however and I don't think it would be appropriate to post it out on the web. PM me if you'd really like to know.

To get back into the discussion, I'm always curious as to who plays their home games at Baseball Heaven out in Yaphank. I know PG has some tournaments out there as well as many others but there has to be some team that plays there for the most part.
Honestly, All these big named schools that are dropped is cool, and commiting to a school is a outstanding accomplishment. But I think some of us(not all of us) tend to not realize all the hard work involved with playing college baseball. This is not high school anymore where these players clearly dominate. There success on the college level will lie in how well they mesh with the college atmosphere. The works harder, the lifts are harder and College coaches want stuff done THEIR WAY not to mention all the outside distractions i.e girls, parties,etc... So yea commiting to a school is a great thing, but it s less than 1 percentof the battle to be successful on the next level. I think anybody who has experienced these things first hand must take it in their hands to help young men looking to make a mark on the college level. So yea I think we should try to do that instead of listing names under the word commit, does anybody feel me?
