Sounds like the prototypical parent who almost all coaches hate to have around. Too bad, the kid might have made something of himself if he had just toed the line and done what his coaches wanted instead of listening to his dad. Smile

Interestingly enough despite the talk about how he flows, there is relatively speaking a bit of a pause just before he goes forward. He doesn't actually pause but he does slow it down a bit.

This is going to be some great stuff for my son to study. A college coach gave him some cues to work on that would lead to that late hip rotation and a bit more leg drive.

As far as the comments about Prior, he doesn't use those strong legs that effectively but he certainly doesn't open his shoulders early.

I was watching Lincecum pitch the first 7 innings of a 1-0 win over the A's last weekend on TV.

I saw him pitch twice in college.

This dude is good...really good!

He is 9-1 on a bad (mediocre at best) team and is 2nd in the NL in ERA (2.38) and 1st in strikeouts (114 in 109.2 innings).

Is he the best young pitcher in the big leagues right now? Thoughts?
Yes he was, but he got it done. The Giants came close to trading him last winter (if you believe the papers). I'm glad they didn't.

BTW, the A's guy that night, Justin Duchscherer is having a great year too (he threw a 2-hitter and lost!). He gets it done in a different way...high 80s to low 90s RHP with a 1.91 ERA, 55 Ks in 85 innings.

You got to see a great pitching matchup! Wish I would've been there.
He is a ton of fun to watch... and a lot stronger than the baby face indicates... According to the Giants announcers, he circled the bases in spring training on his hands (that is doing a handstand for 360 feet).

I got to watch him warm up from about 15 feet away earlier this year. He was amazing... velocity, movement, control... and he can get even better when he brings back the curve (he has shelved it this year for the most part due to control issues.) He was throwing it in this pen and it was a big, hard 11/12 - 5/6.

Just a note on that article--it is getting so much attention, really well written. Last night I had to go to/call 4 different bookstores (we live in Giants country) before I could find one that had that issue in stock; the others were all sold out! One of the guys said, "Yeah, everyone wants that issue"....so maybe it's a collector's item? Lincecum is so special (and I hope he STAYS a Giant!)

Another big day for Tim. 8 innings, 1 run, 9 strikeouts in a win over the Cubbies. Also had a big RBI hit (scored a triple although more like a misplayed single).

While he will be in uniform for the all star game I'm pretty sure we won't get to see him pitch. You guys gotta see this guy if you get a chance. He's worth setting the Tivo or not mowing the lawn to catch a few innings.
