Son played baseball in Puerto Rico for the Gigantes, one winter and for the Charros in that very same stadium the next winter. The gorilla is the team mascot and he entertains on the field during games....IT'S CRAZY!  Latins love their baseball.

People complain about latins taking over the game, but IMO their passion and love for the game far surpasses both fans and players from other countries.

Just to let you know what Puerto Ricans thinks of baseball, on Christmas Day, they bring the local prisoners in to watch the game!

Those young players are really exciting. They have some pop, can run, throw and are spectacular in the field. Imo those are much more exciting than manyou of the one dimensional bat first sluggers of the 90s, just super great to watch.

The only downside of the current games is the huge number of strikeouts. A lot of the time there are just foul balls and swings and misses but when something happens it is really great. I think defensively this is the best era ever.

Being Puerto Rican myself, I can agree that we love our baseball, I almost dye my hair blonde lol.

My son and I watched every game, what Correra ,lindor , baez and Molina are doing is amazing, how they can unite a lil island. Baseball for most Puerto Ricans in the states is everything, I can tell you it is in our house , Baseball in PR is the all end all, nothing compares to it. I live in IL so the Baez hype is real, my sister lives in Cleveland and the Lindor hype is also very real. one thing that I wish more people would understand is that its the passion ,the reason they play with the flair and also pride, don't confuse confident with cockiness. for my 2019 we study Yadi,  funny thing he looks a lot like him behind the plate, so when my son  picks someone off at 1st base, its passion for the game that shows in him.

By the way  my 2019 was just given a PG All American preseason underclass Honor, and will be playing for a Midwest Scout team this fall in Jupiter. so I can say my sons passion is showing his talents.

I agree with everything posted except for the title of the thread.

I agree.  We love Lindor here in Cleveland but baseball in general is experiencing a renaissance imho.  Some of the best athletes in any sport now reside in baseball.  There is spectacular young talent all around the game right now.  The future of baseball feels bright.

I love watching Lindor.  I also love watching Brandon Crawford.

They play the same game, the same position and play at the very highest levels.  Crawford won't ever play with the "flair" described in the article but no one can tell me he isn't great for the game or for the fans who love to watch the game. By contrast, I doubt I would agree with anyone that Lindor is any more or less important to the game by the way he plays or the flair he shows.

We have been very lucky to watch games from Cardines Field in Newport, RI, to games at AT&T in San Francisco, to games played in Tokyo, Japan.

Japanese baseball games are a complete blast to watch.  Every player is so respectful of the game and each opponent.  By contrast, the fans in the stands are noisy and cheering and celebrating every minute of each inning of all 9.

I would suggest the article is, hopefully, wrong in supporting the view that baseball loses if its fans don't adapt to a Lindor "flair" type of style. On the other hand, I think the article is right in supporting the view that fans can and should appreciate more than one "style" of play so long as it is not disrespectful of the game and especially the opponent.
