My son played for the Quincy Gems in that league last summer. Loved it.
My son will be playing for the Mid Atlanitic Red Sox 17U this summer.
My 2015 college son is in his last season of College eligibility, so he is done, But my youngest is actually picking up the bat after 3 years and is going to play with some of his old travel buddies, in a local Rec league, with some games against travel teams and a low level tournament or two.
Any one going to be at the following tournaments for 16U?
7th Annual Memorial Day Classic (Ft. Worth) - May 23-25
Tri-City Triple Play (DFW) - June 5-7
Perfect Game at College Station June 12-14
Perfect Game at Waco June 19-21
TPA baseball DFW - July 17-19
Evoshield PG Tourney (Georgia) - July 29-Aug 2
Speaking of summer teams, do rising freshman ever get assigned to collegiate summer teams? My son has been strongly urged by his soon to be college HC to "make sure to keep playing with your summer team" up until the fall. It's a good team, but not a collegiate summer team level of competition, obviously.
One of the assistants at the school handles summer team assignments for returning players. Would we be out of line to approach them about helping the kid land a spot on a higher level team? Is it too late for that? Would that seem presumptuous? Should we just stick with his home team, as the HC suggested and worry about college teams next summer?

There's a chance my son could be in Georgia during the July 29 - Aug 2 time period, but I won't know for certain for another week or so.

I don't know about assigned, but some D1-bound kids from our area (Washington State) play summer collegiate ball the summer before they head out to college.
2016 will be playing for East Coast Titans 17U.

It can be hard to find summer spots for a incoming freshman. I would stick with the coaches suggestion. The Summer before College is one of the best experiences a player can have. Most have their college picked out and their is no pressure. It is an opportunity to play with Friends and team mates one more time. A last hurrah so to speak.
D3 coaches work very hard to find spots for their players. It can be an uphill battle. Even though your son has committed, it is not official until he steps on campus next fall. So I am not sure that a coach should expend the effort for a young man who is not part of his program yet. Plus lets say he gets your son a spot and he goes and competes very well against college competition. Lets say he plays so well he catches a D1 coaches eye and the mentioned D1 coach suddenly has a scholarship come available and offers it to your son. Then the D3 coach just spent one of his hard earned spots on a summer team for a kid that ends up going somewhere else. I am not sure the reward is worth the risk.
In our area there are some local wood bat leagues that take on Rising freshmen, but is usually not a college coach that gets them on that team, but rather the player reaching out. if you really want him to face college talent this may be an option. Do a google search and see if such leagues exist in your area.

Sounds like sage advice.
By the way, we were following OWU closely, since that was the other school he was most tempted by. Glad to see you guys are dealing this year. Congrats!
Thanks SluggerDad,
Right now the team is very in sync. Hitting and pitching are helping each outher out and everybody is comfortable with their roles. Coach still uses every opportunity to get the younger guys playing time without endangering the win. Team is really getting along well and having a good time.
Lefthook we may have played you guys in last years consolation game in the PG WWBA tourney. Not sure, since you guys have a few teams.
My 2016 plays with Pro Player Canes in McHenry, Illinois

Mine is a rising Freshman D1 commit and will be playing in the Futures Collegiate League in New England this summer. He signed his contract late last summer and I think each team is allowed two such rising Freshmen. Pretty sure the schedule is like 56 games plus playoffs. Spots are probably all spoken for, but you never know, kids get hurt during the regular season, etc.

Yes we will be at that tourny, health permitting (he is in a cast for 4 weeks, broken thumb!) Maybe we'll get matched up.....

This is Righthooks first journey in to travel ball. Had to move him from the HS summer team into a more established program. They have a good track record.

Hope the thumb gets healed up. One of my son's friends played for Burn Pennant last summer, but has moved over to Elite Squad this year.
2016 Orlando Scorpions
soulslam55- my sons team will be up at Diamond Nation 7/20, might see you around.
Everyday. It's entirely possible that we have crossed paths at some point. My 2017 played for the Renegades. We played up in a few tourneys a year. I know we've played the Canes a couple of times. Just not sure what age teams. I will need to go back and look on gamechanger. We have moved on to the Longshots starting this year. Not sure of our schedule yet bit I've been told that its almost all local and most of the time we are playing in Scout Association events.
James- don't believe we will be.
However we are playing the CSA invite in June at Nash Park as well as the CSA Games in Huntley.
Joes -I'm sure we have. Probably will again. Play the Longshots all the time. Great program
Bellevue Dragon's for my 2017 just outside Seattle
Son plays for AZ T-Rex Baseball Club
Most summer collegiate leagues don't allow rising freshmen but check with each league. Our league (The Valley League) voted against it. There was very little support for the idea and when a couple pro scouts said it really wasn't good, the idea was voted down. I like the idea of working out and playing with your high school buddies one last time. If you're truly good enough to play in a good collegiate league before college, you were probably drafted pretty highly and those kinds of guys are few and far between. Some high schooler high draft guys have played well in summer collegiate leagues, which helped their contract negotiations.

Nice. Looking forward to a couple of tourneys there this year. 2016 played in Super 17 last year (with a different team)...had a great week! Hope to see you there!
