I posted quite some time ago about 5'8" 145lb. Danny Herrera.. 10-0 in D1 play in 2006 with a low-80's fastball. Was drafted in the 45th round in 2006 and is now playing AA ball for the Frisco Roughriders. He's 3-0 in AA. Go Danny! Is he making a case for crafty lefties?

Bum,
Those are always great stories and you can only wish him continued good health and success.
Another young man from the Northwest, Aaron Mathews, an outfielder, was a 19th round pick from Oregon St in 2004.
Aaron, who is listed at 5'10" did not get an assignment out of extended Spring Training until June of 2005. Since then he has been on a tear and is now hitting .326 with New Hampshire in the AA Eastern League. There are very few who play the game harder than Aaron. Not only is he very good, he makes the game fun to watch.
Last year, a high school senior in San Antonio named William Uechi had a hard time generating any interest because of his size. He's listed at 5'10, but I've seen him play and would guess him to be all of about 5'7 or 5'8. He decided to attend Abilene Christian University (D2) and was a virtual walk-on this year.

This season, Uechi hit .370 with 37 RBI and was one of only two Wildcats to start in all 60 ACU games in 2007. Uechi, who started all 60 games at either second base or shortstop, committed just seven errors all season on his way to earning first team all-LSC South Division and division Freshman of the Year honors.
