When my son was in LL I created a travel team with fifteen kids who were most likely to be among the twelve selected. We played in a USSSA Sunday doubleheader league concurrently with the LL season. You can call us a travel team. I would say we were a LL all star prep team. You can't draw all stars from outside your boundaries.

At 13u I created a travel team from some of the best former LL and Ripken players in the county. Take these kids down to 12u or my 12u team up to 13u. They would have kicked the crap out of our very successful LL all star/travel team. It's the difference in when you can recruit from a 16 square mile area (four miles in each direction) and the entire county.

The indignation should be easy to understand. Like I said, you simply don't know what you're talking about.  I'd explain how local leagues work and how an All Star team is supposed to be selected and what the rules are, but why bother? That info is readily available online.

I never mind debating and defending a viewpoint but I can say I really try not to tell people they "don't know what they are talking about" or personally insult people in any way.  I suggest you take the same track.  And by the way I know exactly what I am talking about.

Well I'm sorry that you found that offensive, but I was just cutting to the chase by stating a fact.

When you first chimed in you said:

But we should all realize that none of these teams that make it deep into the LL process are actual LL teams

...which, unless it's just poor phrasing, would identify you as somebody who doesn't understand that "actual LL teams"  do not compete LLWS.  The teams in the LLWS are composed of the best players in particular league.  Typically you're talking about roughly 12 kids out of a pool of 80 to 140 LL players, depending on the size of the league and if they put their best 11yo's on the 12yo team.

Have a wonderful evening.

No question it's a horrible day for LL and all who participate in it and support it and play in it, but it's interesting that in this piece the the writer opens by describing how a balk call decided a "LL  championship game".

When most people talk about LL, they mean 12u ball on the the 60' field like they play the LLWS, not Juniors or Seniors or Big League, which are played at 90'.  Those divisions are dying and most good players leave LL before then.  Well, there are no balks in 60' Little League, so the reporter must have been talking about a Juniors game or above, or something other than LL.  In LL, the play he describes is a no pitch and would have no impact on the game.

I somewhat agree with you, but as a 12YO if an adult said to you that the took care of the issue are you going to keep questioning them or are you going to shut up because you think you are going to get in trouble.
