It seems that my local BOE decided as a cost saving issue, they would put middle school sports as a line item / sacrificial lamb on the BOE ballot back in April. It was defeated (as was the BOE budget) so now there are no middle school sports in town.

I will be trying to inspire the locals to go for a pay to play program, much like AAU. We are a small town and very few of the kids other than my son plays AAU ball. (Actually none that I know of)

I really don’t think this town team could compete in some of the stronger AAU leagues around here. I have yet to find a town league that they could play in during the spring. There is a town league for late spring and summer that the town regularly fields a team in… Our town rarely does well because of our small population. My son’s class has only 75 kids about 40% boys…. Tough to build a team from.

Anyone have ideas on what we could do? It’s funny, my son is set with his AAU team, but I still want the other kids to have the opportunity to play ball…. I would also like to see the boys play together before HS.
