Contact DB2BMom for info on the school's academics. Her son will be a freshman there this year so she has a very good feel for the academics and the athletics.

I am pretty sure that Long Beach is one of the geographically "impacted" state universities ... meaning freshman (and possibly soph) admissions are restricted to general applicants who are withing a certain radius of the school. Obviously, as in the case with DB2BMom's son, exceptions are made for student-athletes.

I will also let her know that you are interested and hopefully she can contact you herself.
First: it's a dirtbag...not dirtbagger!

Second: The Bullwinkle is a x-dirtbag (before we where called dirtbags and before they were good, yet I still got cut... ouch baby, that hurt) and an alum of CSULB.

The Bullwinkle met Mrs Bullwinkle at Long Beach at a Kappa Sigma fraternity party and fell in love on site. (Mrs Bullwinkle was a nursing student, who is now a RN and PHN, and still looks HOT in the ol' college nursing uniform she will put on for my enjoyment.)

The Bullwinkle (currently looking at diploma on wall) graduated with a BS in financial management and a minor in accounting. The Bullwinkle owns his own business and can pay his bills on occasion.

All of Bullwinkle brothers and sisters... total of 5, are all graduated from CSULB and are all doing great....(except for Tom Bullwinkle who was caught looking in a cabin in Banff Canada of a poster on this site...we now call him "peepin' Tom Bullwinkle")

So, yes, you can get a great education at a CSU campus near you!

Am not sure what you mean when you say "similar" to Long Beach. There are a lot of Cal State colleges and universities, some with quality D-1 and D-2 baseball programs, and each campus offering their own special academic programs and atmosphere.

Don't know for sure what you are looking for ... other than the beautiful warm weather, beaches, mountains, etc ... well, okay, not quite like your home, I admit ... laugh ... just wondering what you are interested in. Perhaps you can send me a PM with some ideas and questions.
