looking for a new glove

I prefer All-Star and Rawlings catchers mitts, but everyone has their opinions.

Never had a problem with my Ralwings HOH...I have the one Joe Mauer uses...If I get a smaller HOH though, is there a chance something in the glove will be changed? Same series though, right?

highly reccommend the Heart of the Hide by Rawlings.I got one this year and its great.Good padding,breaks to your hand,never really gets too loose(like for example nike gloves do)

and for the prices some gloves go at,150.00 isnt terrible(sad to say I know)

I use a DBAT pro premier mitt. Excellent quality. Very thick and tough leather, and good padding. My 1st choice was the pro preferred, but I couldnt afford it. If you can afford one, a pro preffered is probably the best out there. IF not, a HOH or possibly an A2000, although those mitts seem a little shallow to me.

The Wilson A203 "The Pudge" is by far the best glove ive ever tried and used in a game. it isnt too expensive, about 190, but it is such a great glove

those seem a little small and shallow though especially if you have big hands. If you like that, theres no problem with it. I love pro preferred and HOH mitts. If I could afford it, I'd drop 300 to buy the new Special Editon Gold Glove Pro preffered mitt. That things is beatiful.

My son just bought the new Wilson A2K and its really nice because when your buy it, its pretty much already broken so you could start using it within like a month or two

I lucked into a deal on a Nokona special edition for my son and he loves it. Up till then he was always happy with his HOH.

Not too many pros use Nokona...why is that?

Nokona will not pay the high endorsement dollars that the major glove companies will. They figure if a pro player is using one, it's because they really like it, not because they are paid to wear it.

BTW Nokona is one of less than a handful of companies that manufacture their gloves in the USA.

Akadema Praying Mantis, I haven't found a better one to date including the Nokona's.

akadema or wilson for catchers mitts..

I like Rawlings and Wilson gloves. I tried using the Akadema while giving lessons this past winter, and had trouble getting the ball out of the glove when trying to transfer for throws. Seemed like it was a very deep glove and the ball got lost. I don't have that problem with Rawlings and Wilson gloves. Just my .02

In my 2 afternoon sessions of my summer camp last year we had 49 catchers. 38 of them guys, of those 15 were using the Wilson A2000 series. Have never seen such a large group with one glove in all my years running the camp. 2nd place was clearly Rawlings, then pretty spread around for the rest.

My son has a custom made Kelley. He has had it for several years. It took a while to get it broken in, but once it was it has been great. He loves it.

Nokona is always a good glove. When my son is not catching he is playing third and uses a Nokona. His Nokona seemed to be already broken in when we bought it.

There are alot of good gloves on the market and it is a personal preference on what works for you.

But, you are correct.

You can also get it custom made to fit a bigger hand plus any other modification you would like done to it.

i bought the rawlings hoh 32 1/2 and quite frankly it is amazing! i love it and would not have picked another glove!

I found that Guerrero gloves are very good, made in USA, catchers mitt $115.00. Good leather, but must break in. see them at www.guerrero.com My son is not a catcher but he has bought infield gloves from them. Great quality at a good price but very stiff at purchase.
