7yr old (now 8yr old) used an Easton Rampage (28"/15.5) last spring and it was a very good little bat, especially for $44. I'd like to try a heavier bat on him but don't want to spend the money or take the damage risk on a composite. Can anyone recommend an 29"/17 that is a good utility bat like the Rampage?

Thanks.

Just get him a new bat like the old one. He is way too young to start worrying about composite or precise weight differentials.

Just go to Walmart and pick up the one he likes, it need not be any more involved than that.

If your son falls in love with the game you will have ample opportunities to open up your wallet, no need to rush things.

Well he is 8 now Smile But I do get your point! My point is you can get great deals on Ebay and I have bought a lot of equipment there. At 8 I did buy my son his first expensive bat for Little League Farm (machine pitch). The lighter ones that don't dent up like beer cans are made of the more expensive alloys. Hey, you're only 8 once! Here are some new ones from 2002 at $65 : http://cgi.ebay.com/2002-NIW-W...D5214910677290560431
