Was at a Christmas party the other night. A few TCU alums were in attendance & the host had one TV on with the game. Have not been a Lou fan, since he was at Arkansas, so I dulled out on his mumblings. One thing we all agreed upon was the ESPN bowl producers did not commit much thought to bio's on the players & the history of the programs. Instead ESPN relied on preplanned schtick with Lou to give "color" to the game. It sucked. Constant throwing up comments to Lou, so he could ramble about his days at Notre Dame & South Carolina. Mark Maye was as guilty as anyone. So was the female sideline reporter.

Would have liked to have heard more facts about the two programs playing in the game. It would have been easier to digest a pair of ex TCU & LT alum sportscasters in the booth over Lou's constant babble. Lou was not in the ESPN booth in last night Boise State blowout win. Would love to get through Christmas w/o him gracing the tube.
LH cracks me up. At least when I can understand him.

Here are some of my favorite LH quotes:

The man who complains about the way the ball bounces is likely the one who dropped it.

You're never as good as everyone tells you when you win, and you're never as bad as they say when you lose.

When all is said and done, more is said than done.

astro21....I know I am in the monority, but I think he is very funnie and enertaining.when he and Mark are in the court room I think it's hilarious. Also I am very close to his age. That may explain my sence of humor

Astro 21,

I also find him funny and entertaining. I can do a great Lou Holtz immitation that drives my family crazy. Every time Holtz opens his mouth I can't help but laugh. Poor Mark May must roll his eyes a hundred times a day when he is on the set with Lou.

There are others in the jock broadcasting business that I find much more annoying including Chris Berman, Stephen A Smith, and Tim McCarver. Berman is an institution but he is long overdue to retire. Berman always sounds like he just ran a marathon, and can't put the words together because he is out of breathe. He's just plain awful.

fenway, a friend of mine calls him Stephen A. Naismith because with his know it all attitude he thinks he invented basketball. I can't last 2 minutes listening to him.

Regarding SAS, you're a much more patient person than me because the clock never starts in my case. Wink When I hear his name announced I will preemptively change the channel so I don't have to listen to his voice & 'tude.

Berman's delivery just annoys me for some reason. He is all over the place with his tone and cadence. Apparently, I'm the only one as he continues to host and broadcast different ESPN shows. He's been with ESPN since I was a senior in high school. When Berman does baseball games he makes McCarver look better.
