2010 Louisville Slugger H.S. All-American Team

TUCSON, Ariz. — The 2010 Louisville Slugger High School All-American team is loaded with talent, featuring 25 players who were chosen in the first five rounds of the 2010 Major League Draft.

Many of the All-Americans are players of the year in their league, region or state, and several have already received numerous national and local honors for their baseball skills.

Leading the pitchers is left-handed pitcher Phillip Pfeifer of Farragut H.S. (Knoxville, TN), who had a phenomenal junior year on the mound. He threw a one-hitter in the state championship game, striking out 14 and beating Houston, 3-1. He was named tournament MVP.

This season Pfeifer posted a 16-0 record with a 1.23 ERA, 165 strikeouts, 26 walks in 96.1 innings. As one of the top junior pitchers in the country, he committed to Vanderbilt. He is the 2010 Louisville Slugger Pitcher of the Year.

One of the highly touted high school shortstops in the country, Manny Machado of Miami Brito Private (Miami, FL) lived up to all the hype. He capitalized on a great junior year and helped to lead the 18U USA Team to a gold medal in the Pan-Am Junior Championships in Venezuela last summer. He was the third pick in the Major League draft by Baltimore.

This season he hit .639 with 12 hoe runs, 27 doubles, 56 RBI and stole 17 bases. He is the 2010 Louisville Slugger Player of the Year.

This marks the 14th year that Louisville Slugger has sponsored the High School All-Americans as selected by Collegiate Baseball.
