The former owners of the Lumber Yard Sports Complex( which was never used last summer) have sold the complex to the Bourbonnais Park District.

The Bourbonnais Park District has committed a half million dollars to redeveloping the entire complex and have began working on the playing surfaces already. Jim Walsh of Sportsfields Inc was hired to REDO THE SURFACES OF EACH baseball field and he began the project last week. All fields will be finished prior to the winter.

Diamond Sports Promotions will be the new tourney company for the complex. There will be a new "youth baseball" website developed and their youth season will begin Friday April 17-19th. Ages of tourneys for baseball will be 10-16 with some extra games being played for the older high school aged players when space is available.

Diamond Sports will also develop a youth FALL SCHEDULE as well as continuing its college "tour" in the summer and fall..

This complex will be excellent in quality in the future...Diamond Sports has a good reputation in the older kids tourneys....and hopefully can get some of the youth teams back into the complex..

some additions besides fields being revamped are new backstop netting on each field, new dugouts, new concession stands, new restrooms, walking paths, a splash pond for the kids to enjoy during the summer months, but best of all NO ADMISSION CHARGES FOR THE SPECTATORS!

TOURNEY DIRECTORS WILL INCLUDE MIKE VANHORN, TIM BROWNLEE, JIM BROWNLEE, ANDREW BARTMAN, all college baseball coaches or former college baseball coaches... Two other current college coaches or former coaches will be added to the staff for this complex.

Will keep you posted on the progress.. A new alternative to youth baseball events....

If the trees get planted I'll get them to chisel out Sebastian's name and add Van Horn, the Brownlee boys, and that Bartman guy.

"Plant them and they will come."

.
they said they were going to plant trees, shrubs, etc... needless to say it will take time for the trees to grow....but a pavillion is going to be built.... and that kisok they originally built will be bypassed with sidewalks...

just saw the architect plans for the facility which will be called DIAMOND SPORTS COMPLEX...
UNBELIEVABLE! 3 year plan and it will be the complex to be at... just like at Arizona...infield practice areas, picnic areas, splash ponds, volleyball courts....DEVELOPMENT OF walking paths and a REAL PARK AROUND THE BASEBALL FIELDS... a great looking CHAMPIONSHIP SQUARE AREA to present the awards....
The fields are looking good....starting to look like a BRAND NEW FACILITY...fields would be ready to play on in 2-3 weeks... the FORMER owners let it go down ...... THE NEW OWNERS ARE COMMITTED TO EXCELLENCE! AND YES....TREES WILL BE planted everywhere throughout the faciiity... IT WILL BE A GREAT PLACE TO BE...
WE at Diamond Sports Promotions are very proud to have our name attached to it!

The fields are completely redone, $97,000 was spend to get the fields back to brand new... THE OLD RESTROOMS AND CONCESSION STANDS have been completely removed from the premises and new ones being built in modular fashion...
Teams are signing up now and we are ACTUALLY RAISING MONEY to bring the teams and kids back to the facility by offering teams benefits! Call Vanhorn with any questions ...
