Owen Wilson in Wedding crashers tells a girl at a wedding party, " we lost alot of good men"

The girl replies, " But you play for the New York Yankees"

He relizes he bein caught in his lie and
replies, "we lost them in trades and to injuries"

Just curious do many players lie about thier abilties to impress girls and what was the results of it.

A little footnote, several girls on spring break said they met a number of guys who claimed to play for the NY Yankees in bars.

WSJ had an article about the thriving market for Super bowl rings and the like which sell for thousands of dollars. Dealers estimate that about half go to memorabilia collectors and half are worn by guys who claim to be former pro jocks.

The web is great for catching the phonies. You can't believe how many fake holders of the Congressional Medal of Honor have been tripped up in recent years. (there is a site listing all recipients)
I didn't know girls could be impressed with baseball ... Smile

I know for my son, he tends to keep his baseball and dating activities pretty separated. He just shakes his head when he sees some guy's girlfriend sitting up in the stands at one of these looooong all-day showcases or tryouts ... why wouldn't she want to do something else instead of sit around bored to tears all day.

pbonsteel... I'm a boy and I like to watch baseball and talented players so I spent all my day to watch a tryouts... OK thats good...

Why not a girl... If she like the game and like to see he's boyfriend play and practice... that's great. A lot of times sport and girl make a lot of fights! So if they like the same things ... thats the way!

Enjoy a girl in the stand... because for some dads maybe that will be another boy in the stand waiting for your son :S ! ! !
