I guess since I'm not the first, I'll go ahead and get my "brag" in, too.
2016 got accepted ED to Macalester over the weekend.
For those who are interested, recruited as a pitcher, but he and I did all the legwork his Junior summer, identified a list of probable fit schools, and attended only one real showcase, Top96 Academic at Catholic University in July, where there were around a dozen schools he was interested in.
Visited Swarthmore, Haverford, Hopkins, and Roanoke that trip, made contact with Carleton and Macalester who were both there and part of his initial shortlist, and ended up getting significant interest from Catholic, Vassar, Gettysburg, and a few others also. Really loved Haverford for both baseball and school, Swarthmore and Hopkins mostly for the schools. No interest from Hopkins athletically, moderate levels of interest from Swarthmore and Roanoke, and maybe a bit more than moderate from Haverford.
With family in the Twin Cities, decided to make a trip there as well to explore the MN schools, ended up visiting Mac (overnight), Carleton, and St. Olaf. Appeal at Carleton was probably more academic than athletic, the reverse at St. Olaf, and Mac (as well as downtown St. Paul location) appealed across the board. Significant interest from all 3 coaches (I guess 6'5" southern pitchers are tougher to come by in the Great White North), but ultimately felt the best fit was clearly Macalester. Coach asked for him to apply ED, which he did. Test scores a touch below median (30 ACT), and no extracurricular's of note outside baseball, but academic rigor and GPA carried the day (2500+ student school, so he had 12 APs, all 4s and 5s so far, and a perfect A average prior to finally catching a B in Georgia Tech Linear Algebra this semester).
With that settled, he can now throw himself fully into the off-season workout plan to get those next couple MPH.
